Magnet Nursing Hospital

2009, 2004

On April 13, the nation's foremost authority on the quality of patient care, the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on the Magnet Recognition Program, announced they had unanimously redesignated North Mountain as Magnet.

Magnet status is based on the 14 Forces of Magnetism, which are measurable criteria for patient care. Magnet designation is considered the nation's gold standard for nursing quality. Only about 4 percent of the nation's 6,000-plus hospitals have earned Magnet status. Less than half that group have earned redesignation.

In December 2004, John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital became the first in the Valley to receive Magnet status, which must be renewed every four years in order to retain the designation. … Full story in News & Events

Business Woman of the Year

2009

Rhonda Forsyth has been named the Valley's Business Woman of the Year for 2009.

Forsyth, president and CEO of John C. Lincoln Health Network, was named the most outstanding woman in business March 3 at the 2009 Women in Business Trade Show and Luncheon sponsored by The Phoenix Business Journal. …Full story in News & Events

Best Places to Work for Women

2009

Arizona Woman magazine named John C. Lincoln Health Network one of the top 25 places for women to work in Arizona for the year 2009.

The magazine's independent panel looked at criteria such as benefits, number of women in the work force, number of women in management, number of women promoted and how the company culture supports women. The results are published in the February 2009 issue of Arizona Woman.

Benefits available at John C. Lincoln include subsidized sick childcare, the nationally accredited Lincoln Learning Center for employees and the community, a fitness center, tuition reimbursement and flex-time programs.

Best Places to Work—Valley of the Sun

2008, 2007, 2006 and 2003

In December 2008, John C. Lincoln Health Network was named a 2008 Best Places to Work in the Valley of the Sun by The Business Journal and Best Companies AZ.

The Network ranked second in the newly created Extra-Large Companies category, which surveys Greater Phoenix businesses with more than 3,000 employees.

The award recognizes how the Network has created a positive, productive work environment that retains valued employees.

2008 marked the third year in a row—and the fourth year overall—in which John C. Lincoln was named a Best Place to Work in the Valley. Winners were selected through an independent survey of employees at companies. ... Full story in News & Events

Chest Pain Center Accreditation

2008 and 2007

In November 2008, John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital joined counterpart Deer Valley Hospital as an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI (percutaneous cardiac intervention, also known as angioplasty) by the national Society of Chest Pain Centers.

John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital earned its Chest Pain Center with PCI accreditation—the highest available for chest pain—in October 2007.

The important designation recognizes our hospitals' rapid and effective medical care for heart patients. It likewise reflects our hospitals' ongoing commitment to reducing the time it takes to treat patients who experience heart-attack symptoms.

Also in 2008, both hospitals were credentialed by the state of Arizona as Cardiac Arrest Centers in recognition of their state-of-the-art treatment of patients whose hearts have stopped beating. Full story in News & Events

Arizona Pioneer Award for Quality

2008

John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital in 2008 was honored with the prestigious Arizona Pioneer Award for Quality by the Arizona State Quality Alliance.

The Pioneer Award for Quality honors organizations that have established and deployed fundamental quality systems within their operations, attaining high levels of performance excellence process implementation.

Overall, the Arizona State Quality Awards are modeled after the stringent Malcolm Baldrige Award criteria and recognize organizations for performance excellence.

The Alliance's awards are an opportunity for recognition, providing feedback on where an organization is positioned on the quality continuum. ... Full story in News & Events

Beacon Award

2008

In January 2008, the Intensive Care Unit at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital became the first in Arizona honored with the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), the largest specialty nursing organization in the world.

Critical care units that receive the Beacon Award exhibit high quality standards in six categories:

  • Innovation and excellence in recruitment and retention
  • Education, training and mentoring
  • Evidence-based practice and research
  • Patient outcomes
  • Creating and promoting healing environments
  • Leadership and organizational ethics

2008

The first Sunnyslope Village Alliance (SVA) Cornerstone Leadership Award was presented to John C. Lincoln Health Network in recognition of the organization as the community's most significant benefactor.

Cardiac Arrest Center Credentialing

2008

Both John C. Lincoln hospitals have been credentialed as Cardiac Arrest Centers by the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. This credentialing recognizes state-of-the-art treatment of patients whose hearts have stopped beating.

2008

The Stroke Center at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital was recognized by the American Heart Assocation with its Silver Award for excellence in stroke patient treatment.
