Professional Practice Model


As nurses, we are committed to providing competent and compassionate nursing care to the patients and families who entrust themselves to us. Whatever we do, our most important goal is improved patient outcomes. We use a nursing framework based on Jean Watson’s Model of Caring. It emphasizes the patient’s expectation of care and helping nurses meet those expectations.

We focus on the following critical areas:

  • Attracting and keeping the best nurses
  • Developing and continuously improving a formal structure that ensures consistency in patient outcomes
  • Defining and improving the processes by which we deliver care

We provide ongoing opportunities for our nurses to learn and develop professionally and empower them through shared leadership and authority for the provision of patient care.

We embrace evidence-based practice and state-of-the-art technology with the goal of translating research into the actions that produce the best patient outcomes.

An outcome of our commitment to nursing excellence and evidence-based practice is our two-year nursing strategic plan, which holds us responsible for continuous improvement in key areas of quality, safety, improved patient care and a diverse and caring work environment.
