Deer Valley Unified School District Nurses Get CPR Refresher Course at Deer Valley
2/6/2009

Feb. 4 was a half-day for students in the Deer Valley Unified School District so staff could spend the afternoon in training. Twenty-one school nurses attended a CPR refresher course designed just for them at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital.

Teacher Josh Lado, PCT, received an A+ from the nurses.

"I loved it. He talked to us as fellow nurses and sojourners," said Nancy Townsend, the school nurse at New River Elementary School. "It was really directed to us as health care providers."

Michele Hart, RN, school nurse at Legend Springs in Glendale, participates in the CPR refresher course for Deer Valley Unified School District nurses at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital.

The Deer Valley nurses also toured Mendy’s Place and KidsZone. They often send patients here, they said, and value the hospital’s commitment to kids and the community.

"We as nurses really appreciate that we have a facility that supports us as school nurses," Townsend said.
