4/1/2009

Employee satisfaction in 2008 at John C. Lincoln's hospitals and health care facilities was higher than 95 percent of the hospitals and health care organizations throughout the United States surveyed by one of the nation's premier employee opinion survey research organizations, Morehead Associates.

More than 75 percent of John C. Lincoln's clinical, professional and support services personnel completed the comprehensive and anonymous survey, which evaluated their perceptions of the organization, management, job significance and their co-workers.

"The more engaged and committed your employees are, the better patient care results you get. Knowing our employees rate John C. Lincoln as high as they do reaffirms our commitment to being the best place to work and delivering the best quality of care," said John C. Lincoln Human Resources Vice President Dale Spartz. "However, we don’t ever want to sit back and coast. We are continuously looking for ways to improve.

"In the economic difficulties we have been in and may be in for some time, it is important to keep employees working together as a team and committed to providing the best patient care possible. We appreciate the honest feedback we receive and we value the hard work and dedication of our employees," he said.

As a result of the consistently favorable employee scores, John C. Lincoln was presented with the Galaxy Award, the highest level of recognition given by Morehead Associates. Winners of the Galaxy Award were chosen from organizations that consistently achieved employee satisfaction survey scores in the top 10 percent. Employees at these organizations have exceptionally favorable views of their organizations and leaders, their managers and fellow employees.

The fact that this year’s scores put John C. Lincoln into Morehead's 95th percentile is significant because Morehead’s clients—against whom John C. Lincoln is ranked—include health care facilities such as New York University Medical Center, the UCLA Hospital System and Yale New Haven Health.

Morehead's other clients include 40 percent of U.S. News & World Report's "100 Best Hospitals" and 42 percent of U.S. News and World Report's "Honor Roll Hospitals."

The employee opinions tabulated in the Morehead survey echo the recent ranking of John C. Lincoln Health Network as one of the top two best workplaces in the "Extra-Large Companies" category in the Phoenix area by The Business Journal's "Best Places to Work in the Valley of the Sun."

Founded in 1979, Morehead Associates specializes in employee opinion survey research that drives organization performance. Its surveys of thousands of employees at hundreds of hospitals and health care facilities across America are confidential communications that corporations use as tools to help breed better business practices.
