Opportunities at Deer Valley

  • Information Desk, Service Specialist - Greet and assist patients, visitors and othersand help them to feel more comfortable. Provide accurate, helpful information. Assist in the discharge and transportation of patients and/or items from one department to another throughout the hospital. This is an active and diverse service-oriented position. Position requires a helpful, friendly attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Gift Shop - Assist customers with purchases. Light stocking. Opportunity for creative input in merchandising. Will train on basic cash register. Position requires a helpful, friendly attitude. Proceeds from the gift shop are donated by the volunteers to the hospital for patient services, programs and equipment.
  • Business Skills Mentor - Teach basic business environment skills and work ethic to teens in the volunteer environment by being a role model and coach. Just a few hours each week can lay the foundation for a lifetime of success. Evenings and weekends. (Please note: This position is for our adult volunteers only.)
  • Hospitality Services - Make waiting a little more comfortable and pleasant experience for families of surgery patients. Assist visitors with directions and information. A friendly, compassionate person who isn't afraid to talk to strangers with excellent communication skills is needed.
  • Strolling Musician - Provide calming music for patients and visitors throughout the hospital.

Opportunities at North Mountain

  • Gift Shop - Serve as sales clerk responsible for assisting family, visitors, employees and residents with gift shop purchases. Includes the operation of a cash register.
  • Classroom Assistant - Assist Lincoln Learning Center staff in providing individual attention and care to young children. Read to children.
  • Food Bank, Front Desk Volunteer - Receive clients, assist with documentation and tracking of client eligibility at Desert Mission Food Bank. Sensitivity to unique issues for families of various socio-economic groups is vital.
  • Food Bank, Warehouse Volunteer - Unload food supplies, restock shelves and create food baskets for those in need at Desert Mission Food Bank. Attention to safe food handling is vital.
  • Adult Day Health Care - Assist staff at John C. Lincoln's Adult Day Health Care Center with recreational activities for participants.
  • Birthing Center - Provide clerical support to nurses in such tasks as chart preparation and collation of mailing materials.
  • Courtesy Van - Drive the John C. Lincoln van to pick up and deliver items throughout the Valley. Hearing/vision screen and driver safety required and will be provided by John C. Lincoln.
  • Crisis Companion - Provide round-the-clock coverage of a pager, ready to respond to needs identified by staff, to provide support of patients' family members in time of crisis. An additional 30 hours of training is required.
  • Thrift Shop - Receive, sort, price and sell merchandise at the Treasure Trove that is donated to the John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital Auxiliary. (North Mountain location only.)
  • Patient Hospitality - Pushcart of supplies into newly admitted patient rooms, welcome patients to John C., offer to assist and provide with complimentary items. An additional 6 hours of training is required.
